NEWS SOURCE: Savvy Media“SURELY WE CAN CHANGE SOMETHING” CAMPAIGN CHALLENGES FANS TO ACT October 4, 2007 (NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Oct. 4, 2007—2006 MSN Artist of the Year David Crowder Band tops the Christian retail charts this week, selling 32, 259 units of its fourth studio project, Remedy. Debuting at No. 1 on SoundScan’s Current Contemporary Christian Overall chart, No. 22 on The Billboard 200, and peaking at No. 4 on iTunes Top 100 Albums chart, REMEDY is David Crowder Band’s highest debut to date, with critics calling it the group’s best album yet. Two years after releasing the genre-bending, tour de force A Collision, sixstepsrecords’ David Crowder Band rewarded patient fans last week with REMEDY. Setting a career best for first week album sales, REMEDY also ranked No. 7 on SoundScan’s Digital Albums chart, marking EMI Christian Music Group’s highest digital debut ever. Additionally, four of the Top 10 most downloaded realtones, according to RingToneJukeBox.com, are from songs featured on REMEDY, including current radio single “Everything Glorious,” “The Glory of It All,” “Can You Feel It,” and “…neverending….” “We are so excited about the latest David Crowder*Band project, Remedy, music that once again reshapes what expressions of worship can and should be,” says sixstepsrecords founder Louie Giglio. “Classic Crowder, Remedy is inventive and fresh, with all the colors and textures Crowder listeners have come to expect. But, Remedy is much more than a collection of songs. It is a call to action, engaging every one of us for a purpose so much greater than ourselves. All of us at sixsteps/EMI CMG are thrilled to get behind both Remedy’s music and mission as God uses this project to marshall change in a world He is eager to restore.” “Experiencing the type of growth that we’ve witnessed in David Crowder*Band’s brand awareness and record sales is very encouraging in today’s market and is a true testament to the authentic relationship they have with their fans,” says EMI CMG Label Group President Peter York. “They continue to meet people where they are, leading them out of their comfort zone into new experiences, musically and in life. We are proud of the band for the record they’ve made and for the challenges they have put forth to us and their fans.” Encouraging listeners to live out the message of REMEDY, David Crowder Band is launching the “Surely We Can Change Something” campaign on tour this week. The “REMEDY Club Tour” will endeavor to connect fans in each city to multiple opportunities where they can serve their communities. With the assistance of Christian Community Development Association (www.ccda.org) and local shelters, those who attend the show will be given the opportunity to bring with them towels and socks for the homeless, be challenged to develop ethical buying habits, and encouraged to invest energy in serving others in need in their area after the concert. The band’s first studio recording since A Collision in 2005, REMEDY is a continuation of its predecessor, offering ten accessible, pop-centric tracks that dive deep into the theology of worship. Produced by David Crowder Band, the album addresses what it means to be part of the remedy in today’s ailing world, hoping to drive fans toward tangible action. The band will debut music from REMEDY on a 28-city national club tour beginning Oct. 3. The record’s first single “Everything Glorious” claimed the No. 4 position this week on Radio & Records’ AC Monitored chart, No. 3 on its AC Indicator chart as well as No. 18 on CHR. The album further garnered an iTunes No. 1, debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard Top 200 and received GMA Music Dove Award honors for Best Rock/Contemporary Album and Best Rock/Contemporary Song (“Here is Our King”). Featured at the enormously popular collegiate Passion gatherings, the band also makes it a point to get back to the church they helped found, University Baptist Church, on most Sundays. Crowder is further an acclaimed author, having penned two books, including his acclaimed, highly personal, Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, But Nobody Wants to Die: Or (The Eschatology of Bluegrass).
